Lego Pet Shop (10218) Review Part 3

So this is actually the Pet Shop, and not the house. I know you have all ( I use word all loosely, I know it is the one person who is reading this from Paris. Thank you by the way).

It starts Epic, look at the tiles.
1

The dog is eyeing up the cat, it could get nasty in here.
2

Nope, it is all good, we have walls now
3

This is cool, it is up there in the ranks with the Loo.
4

All the pets are in, the fish in the top right, the parrots in the bottom left. The food and accessories (maybe) behind the cash register on the wall
5

We have windows and stairs (always a good sign in my opinion)
6

The Pet Shop. That Pet Shop sign was a bugger (like many other things) to make. Although incredibly designed, I didn’t realise what I was making, until I was a fair bit through. The lamp post, you get in each of the modulars, its rather pretty I think.
7

Floor 1: The kitchen. It looks really neat, the cooker looks rather realistic, despite its petite size and its made of Lego. And the fireplace is rather cool, as you will see in later pictures it has a chimney pipe all the way up.
8

The slanted tiles look really sweet, and next to it, is the desk, with a chair (which is coming..).
9

The tiles look better now with the stairs. See the chair, it was coming, I wasn’t lying… :p
10

The windows of the first floor, and perhaps it maybe an artistic shot…or something
11

This is also an artistic shot, or I am showing you the clock at a really bad angle, you choose
12

Now the top floor, I appear not to have taken as many photos, so here is essentially the finished product. The bed:
13

Almost finished
14

Top floor finished
15

The window design, yes I agree, it is pretty
16

Finished, actually finished. Both properties standing side by side
18

The minifigures doing there thing outside, it had to be outside, otherwise its just inconvenient to take a picture.

Lego Pet Shop (10218) Review Part 2

Bags 2 are opened
1

With all the bases, and the beginnings of the walls, I never know what’s going to happen…
2

…It turned into this
3

So there is supposed to be a minifigure painting the wall, but he appears to have gone on a coffee break, and so wasn’t present for the picture
4

The staircase
5

The Top Floor
6

Flowers
7

Storage boxes on the left
8

Front of the top floor
9

Birds-eye view. So you see how the top grey part are flat pieces. That’s what I was referring to earlier (previous post – Part 1) as modular. There are just two parts on either side where it attaches properly.
10

Roof. Not that exciting, but the chimney makes it a little exciting I guess.
11

Finished Townhouse Front
12

Back
13

The Painter came back for this picture
14

The Loo is under the stairs by the way

Lego Pet Shop (10218) Review Part 1

So it came. The Pet Shop, after only waiting 3 days, which I thought was pretty good. The Box was Huge. Huge I tell you, Huge. Imgur readers, I wish I had a banana, then you could see it to scale.

1

It says 16+, I know, I am post 16, but let us not dwell on how the minimum age to get married, is also the minimum age to purchase this Lego set. So you can see in the picture how it is a Pet Shop and a Townhouse. I am not going to explain what you can see in the picture, or maybe I am, I haven’t written the rest yet. (I apologise in advance for the quality of the pictures, some have flash, some don’t. They aren’t the best in the world, but nevertheless, they do the job).

I do like how it is ‘two’ things. I am going to justify it to myself and say it s more for your money.

In most of the ‘bigger’ Lego, bigger meaning more pieces not bigger meaning adult-y, you get bags of Lego, so in this case there were 4 sets, but there was more than one ‘1’ bag for example.

2

Bags 1:

3

4

The beginnings of the front pavement
5

I see walls
6

Front
7

Back. That door, I don’t know if you can see, but its slanted.
8

Ceiling of Basement/floor of ground floor
9

So this is one of my favourite parts of the build. Can you guess, with the pieces below?
10

It built a Loo. How Epic is that! I was really impressed.
11

12

13

The ground floor
15

The hat rack
16

The flower and the flower pot
17

Almost finished bag 1
19

Finished Front. The white windows were awesome, although a bugger to build, I kept placing the tiles wrong
20

Finished back. I don’t know if you have noticed, but all doors have doorknobs, they never used to. I like it.
21

Finished Ground Floor. Again the curved staircase was a bugger to build, but it looks epic.
22

This was cool, check out the design on the staircase.
23

I’m doing this in parts, just because it makes my life easier, and I don’t get lost in the amount of pictures I am uploading.

I am a Child…

I am a child. And I’m ok with it.

Let me explain, I have always been a big fan of jigsaws, last year in my final year of university I got a Hobbit Jigsaw, it was the best Jigsaw ever.

(1)

And so once I had secured employment (someone paying me money…everymonth!!!) I decided to invest in things which I had always wanted as a child (I use the word Invest loosely), so I bought Lego.

Yes. Lego.

So after maybe a little too much research and narrowing it down to a few products I decided to buy the pet shop. Let me tell you a little more about the Pet Shop, you may not care, but again, I’m ok with it. The Pet Shop is part of the Modular series, Modular meaning that the different floors come apart, and are not attached ‘properly.’ Its rather an ingenious idea. Also these series focus on more intricate designs, and do brilliant things with the pieces of Lego.

Am I selling it to you? Perhaps not, but not to worry, I didn’t go into Sales, precisely because I can’t sell.  My day job is secure.

I bought it from lego.com mainly because of the VIP membership. So for every 100 pounds, you get 5 pounds off. Now this isn’t much at all, don’t worry I understand that, but its better than everywhere else. The other place that sold this set was Toys R Us, and their rewards system was rubbish, so I decided against it. And there was one more called bricklink.com which is a specialist Lego retailer (I will explain more later) but I wasn’t sure, and for my first purchase I wanted to buy it from somewhere where I didn’t have any doubts. So Lego.com it was.

I will give you my full take on the Pet Shop, and pictures of the Pet Shop being built (I don’t know if that interests you at all, but nevertheless, I took pictures, so you have to look at them, well… you don’t really, you can just scroll, and read the writing, or just look at the pictures, its up to you really). (I think I have lost sight of what the brackets are for).

New Year Musings

This morning was difficult. Difficult to get out of bed. Although I wasn’t really off in the Christmas period, just knowing that the nextbank holiday would be in Easter. That’s 4 months away.

But let’s be real, I have job, so I truly have something to be gratefulfor. Its in my field, for an awesome company, what more do I want…Much more, but lets not focus on the material, because by nature we all want more in life, not matter what we have or own, we always want something better.
